Chris Baugus · platform & reliability engineer

I keep mission-critical systems up. I'll get your business online.

By day I work on the API edge of a large enterprise: infrastructure as code, reliability, and AI-assisted full-stack builds. On the side, I build fast, simple websites for small businesses that you fully own.

  • You own itYour domain and your Cloudflare account. I'm a guest you can remove anytime.
  • Fast and simpleA clean site that loads quickly and looks right on every phone.
  • Built by an SREThe same habits that keep enterprise traffic flowing.

01 · Engineering

What I do by day

Platform and reliability engineering for production API traffic at enterprise scale.

Built from scratch · Rust

My own load-testing platform

I built a distributed load generator in Rust that has been tested to 300,000 requests per second, more than k6 reaches. When a test needs more than the roughly 65,000 connections one IPv4 machine can open, it forms a Raft cluster and shifts load across the nodes automatically until it hits the target rate.

Live metrics come built in, and a full MCP endpoint lets my AI agents plan, run and analyze tests end to end. Engineers who have used it say it outperforms anything else they've tried.

A private tool. It can generate attack-scale traffic, so it isn't shared.

Migration

Mission-critical API edge

Led a multi-phase migration of a large enterprise's production API gateway and service mesh onto a new platform. That meant Terraform, GCP networking, planned overnight cutovers with rollback plans, and retiring the old platform when it was done.

Reliability

Incidents and hardening

Production incident response and follow-through. One timeout fix took an error rate from about 1% down to 0.015%. Tightened availability targets across the platform.

Security

Edge protection

Audited the firewall rules in front of public traffic and automated allow-lists built from the cloud asset inventory.

AI

AI-assisted engineering

Rolled out AI code review, built a shared knowledge base for the team, and used AI to test platform changes. Now I build full-stack with AI at my side, which is why your website doesn't take weeks.

02 · For small business

A website that works as hard as you do

If your business lives on a Facebook page, a dead link or nothing at all, I'll set you up with a simple, good-looking site that tells people what you do and how to reach you.

  • A clean one-page site that looks right on phones
  • Your services, story, hours and contact details
  • A button to book you, call you or email you
  • Your own domain name, like yourbusiness.com
  • Fast, secure hosting on Cloudflare
  • Everything in your name, nothing locked to me

03 · Why work with me

Small site, big-system habits

You own everything

You register your domain and Cloudflare account, then add me as a helper. When we're done you can remove me with one click, and the site keeps running.

No monthly agency fee

A simple site like this runs on Cloudflare's free tier. Your only ongoing cost is renewing your domain name.

Fast and secure by default

The same care I put into keeping enterprise APIs online: HTTPS everywhere, quick load times, nothing to hack or patch.

Quick turnaround

I build with modern AI-assisted tools, so you're not waiting weeks. Most of the time goes to getting your words and photos right.

07 · About

Hi, I'm Chris

I've spent more than 20 years in infrastructure: networks, systems, cloud platforms, and now the edge of a large enterprise's API traffic. I like problems with real stakes, where one bad change at midnight is felt by millions of people.

These days I build with AI at my side, from platform tooling to full-stack apps. Helping friends get their businesses online turned out to be some of the most satisfying work I do, so now I'm offering it to everyone.
